Desserts are as indulgent to paint as they are to eat. I love the lush pastels of ice creams, the
piped frills of frosting, and the sparkling pop of cherries. I also find the emotional resonance of
the subject matter endlessly interesting. Desserts have nothing to do with sustenance and
everything to do with how we feel or want to feel. We eat them to celebrate birthdays and
weddings. We bake them to express love; we indulge in them for a little comfort.
